Released 7.22.08 - Dawn Chorus began in 2001 when Amy Kingsley(bass), a recent Greensboro, NC transplant, stepped into the local cd shop, Gate City Noise Records, and met owner Andrew Dudek(vocals, gtr). In time, Amy would join Andrew and his neighbor Will Ridenour, drummer, multi-instru-mentalist with ethnomusical tendencies in many late night practices at Andrew's house. Roughly a year later, good friend Zachary Mull(vocals, gtr) hopped into the fray thus completing the core.
Florida St. Serenade is their third full length- ten songs that crackle and sparkle with elements of indie/southern jangle pop, rock and subtle hints of shoegaze. RIYL: Built to Spill, Luna, DCFC, The Feelies, MMJ and 80s/90s college jangle pop.

Reviews:
"Florida St. Serenade is bright, catchy, tuneful indie-pop, heavily reminiscent of Go- Betweens fronted by Robert Forster. The opening trio of tunes is especially impressive. “I’m Cured!” has one of those jagged guitar lines that sounds made-up- on-the-spot, but is all the more charming for it. “Oh Please” packs romantic angst into energetic hooks, and “Whitman’s Sampler” is the real stunner here. A jaunty, dusty, country-western-style coed duet, it’s so tried-and-true that you can’t believe it’s not a cover of some lost Tammy Wynette classic." ~~Pop Matters
"Within Dawn Chorus’ sound are elements of the soaring indie-rock of the 90s combined with the structure and tone of classic singer/songwriter music. Dudek’s songs lean towards the former while Mull’s head in the other direction, but it’s undoubtedly the work of the band that laces the whole album with a consistent sound, no matter who is singing. Live, they’re an equally engaging band that spaces out its pieces and follows some enjoyable paths, but Paulson’s production has distilled their songs down to their pristine best." ~~Aquarium Drunkard
"Dawn Chorus find a happy place between Neil Young and The Connells that comes across as both dynamic and nicely understated. They deliver a studied balance of songcraft and pacing that signals a mature band ready for bigger and better things." ~~Ear Farm
"No filler and not a wasted note will you discover on your stroll down Florida St. Serenade. Tuneful, buoyant, sexy (check out guest vocalist Carmen Biggers on the rambling “Whitman’s Sampler”) and oft cerebral, DC boasts formidable song- writers in guitarists Zachary Mull and Andrew Dudek - both of whom sing con- vincingly on their own compositions and render beautiful counter-melodies on guitar every chance they get. Akin to their forefathers Pavement, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Built To Spill, the band’s musicianship rises to the occasion." ~~Amplifier
